FINANCE: Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is to receive a significant chunk of extra government funding for new equipment.

Prime minister David Cameron announced on 6 March that around £330m of extra funding would be spent on providing “state of the art” equipment and facilities to improve services for patients.

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust will be the recipient of £6m of this – the largest tranche in the South East Coast region – which it is set to receive in 2012-13.

According to the Department of Health, it is scheduled to be spent on the “theatre and recovery unit and strategic service developments on the East Surrey Hospital site”.
