STRUCTURE: Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has been granted planning permission for a 40 bed ward, plus £2.8m from the government to build it.

In his weekly message, chief executive Michael Wilson said: “I’m pleased to say that this week we received planning permission from Reigate and Banstead Borough Council to build our new 40-bed modular ward (and associated car park works), paediatric outpatients unit and West Entrance redesign.”

He added: “We have also received funding from the Department of Health for £2.8m for the work.”

Work is due to begin before the winter.

Mr Wilson thanked four members of the trust’s staff “for their hard work in turning around the planning applications in such a short space of time”, and the council for supporting the application.
