WORKFORCE: Surrey and Sussex Healthcare Trust is advertising for a new chief executive.

The £209m-turnover trust placed an advert in last week’s HSJ and the trust has recently agreed with the NHS Trust Development Authority that it will become a stand-alone foundation trust by April 2014.

It was “escalated” to the Department of Health in May last year after missing target dates for becoming a foundation trust.

It has since agreed a new plan with the Trust Development Authority.

NHS Trust Development Authority chief executive wrote to chief executive Michael Wilson in May and said: “It [had been] noted that the trust’s service performance in the key measures has now dramatically improved.

“The trust is considering and implementing new ways of working and this progress means you can continue your work towards foundation trust status. However, to maintain this position remains a challenge for the trust.”

Michael Wilson has been interim chief executive of the trust since September 2010 when he was seconded from the deputy chief executive, chief operating officer role at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Trust.
