STRUCTURE: A GP practice has shut after unsuccessful contract negotiations, NHS Surrey has announced.

In a statement on 27 March, the primary care trust cluster said Earlswood Medical Practice at Anderson Court would close on 30 March 2012.

The cluster said that, as part of a historic arrangement, Earlswood had been managed by another local practice. Following a review of contracts, NHS Surrey had begun discussions to re-negotiate the contract but was unsuccessful.

“Despite best efforts and the undertaking of a procurement process, we have not been able to find another practice willing to take the practice on. Therefore, having exhausted all possible options Earlswood Park Surgery closes on 30 March 2012,” the statement said.

Another practice had been due to take over the premises in Earlswood but it was announced that this was also now not going ahead.

NHS Surrey chief executive Anne Walker said:  “I know this latest news will be a disappointment to them.

“We are urgently writing to them informing them of these changes and the current advice and options available to them for registering with a GP practice in the local area.”
