COMMERCIAL: A new contract has begun for Central Surrey Health to continue delivering community services for the 290,000 people living in the central Surrey region.
The contract is worth £117m over a five year period, starting on 1 February 2013. It covers Mole Valley, Epsom and Ewell, East Elmbridge and Banstead and surrounding villages.
Central Surrey Health has been the incumbent community services provider since 2006.
Following open competition and a robust procurement process in 2012, the social enterprise was named preferred bidder in October 2012.
Chris Botten, programme director for NHS Surrey, said: “Central Surrey Health secured the contract against tough competition. It is a well run organisation and this new agreement will enable new ways of working and enhance quality for local patients for years to come.”
Dr Claire Fuller, incoming chair of Surrey Downs Clinical Commissioning Group, added: “As we take on our new commissioning role, we very much look forward to continuing to work with Central Surrey Health to build on the improvements we have already delivered together to ensure patients continue to get the best possible care.”
