STRUCTURE: Surrey County Council cabinet member for adult social care and health Michael Gosling has spoken at a Westminster event about improving health and wellbeing.

Mr Gosling spoke about the progress made in establishing Surrey’s health and wellbeing board at a Westminster Briefing session on 18 April, where he set out the work done since the board’s first meeting nearly a year ago.

Surrey was among the first local authorities in the country to set up one of the shadow boards. It is chaired by Mr Gosling and Redhill GP Joe McGilligan.

Mr Gosling said: “Surrey was chosen to pilot these plans and since our board was launched last year we’ve been working hard to strengthen the working relationships between health and social care for the benefit of local people.

“We’ll now build on the good work done so come next April we’ll be working as one team to improve the health and wellbeing of communities while giving people more opportunities to influence how services are run.”
