STRUCTURE: Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has taken over The Downs Nursing Home, Hove, from Southern Cross.
The nursing home provides care to 25 patients and has over 50 staff.
The home has been under threat since the Southern Cross group collapsed earlier this year.
FT service director Neil Waterhouse said: “The Downs Nursing Home is well regarded for the care and compassion it offers to residents.
“We are delighted that the home will stay open and that we have secured its future under the umbrella of Sussex Partnership.”
Staff at The Downs Nursing Home have transferred to the employment of Sussex Partnership.
In July 2011 Southern Cross announced it was to shut down after landlords owning all 752 of its care homes said they wanted to leave the group. Since then discussions have been held to agree the transfer of the homes to new management arrangements and to protect the care provided to the 31,000 residents.
The transfer announced today with Sussex Partnership is part of that process and was completed on 31 October 2011.
