PERFORMANCE: Taunton and Somerset Foundation Trust is still stuggling to capture accurate performance data four months after an IT system upgrade.
A report to July’s board said an upgrade of the Cerner data collection system had increased issues and led to “inflated reporting that risks masking true issues”.
It said the changes to data collection in A&E as a result of the upgrade had increased the administrative workload for staff and did not capture data needed to measure performance against two of the new A&E indicators - time to initial assessment for patients arriving by ambulance and time to treatment.
A new data quality manager has been appointed and issues are being worked through with staff responsible for inputting.
