A milestone in the national programme for IT is “on track” to be met, one of the software suppliers announced this week.
University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust is expected to be the first acute hospital to take up the full Lorenzo electronic health record product, supplied by iSoft. It is the NHS IT programme’s product for the North, Midlands and East.
The Department of Health judged last November it was on course to be installed at Morecambe by the end of March.
It is now understood to be expected to go live early next month.
The announcement comes as the government seeks a memorandum of understanding with the IT programme local service providers, including CSC, which is contracted to install Lorenzo in the North, Midlands and East by the end of March.
In a statement to investors on Monday iSoft said it “reaffirmed its [financial] guidance for fiscal [year] 2010” and was on track to achieve the agreed date for the rollout of Lorenzo at [Morecambe]”.
This would “trigger a cash payment to the company”.
