Professor Sultan Mahmud was part of a small expert panel considering how the NHS might further accelerate advances in communicating with patients via online services, particularly given the coronavirus pandemic.

The director of innovation, integration and research at The Royal Wolverhampton Trust spoke at an HSJ webinar on improving digital communication with patients.

Professor Sultan Mahmud was part of a small expert panel considering how the NHS might further accelerate advances in communicating with patients via online services, particularly given the coronavirus pandemic.

Alongside him on the panel were Hassan Chaudhury, digital health specialist at Healthcare UK at the Department for International Trade and Lloyd Price, co-founder of Zesty, which supported the webinar.

In a discussion chaired by HSJ contributor Claire Read, the panel considered how the momentum that currently exists around video consultations and electronic means of communication with patients can be sustained. They also debated what role digital patient services might play as elective activity resumes and waiting list backlogs are confronted.

The webinar took place on Wednesday, 12 August 2020. To view the on demand version – click here
