FINANCE: Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys Foundation Trust had an operating surplus of £6.9m at the end of December – slightly ahead of plan, reflecting high patient activity.
The trust has spent more than it planned on agency staff and overtime, and less on permanent staff. It is also slightly behind on its cash releasing efficiency savings, due to the reconfiguration of forensic services at Roseberry Park Hospital. A finance report to the board says that senior management are treating the shortfall on savings as a priority.
