FINANCE: Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys Foundation Trust had an operating surplus of £7.6m at the end of February – three per cent of turnover and ahead of its planned surplus of less than £6m.
However, the trust was marginally behind plan in its cost reduction scheme, mainly due to reconfiguration at Roseberry Park Hospital.
It had also spent £1.7m more than planned on agency staff over the financial year but this was compensated for by lower spending on permanent staff.
