WORKFORCE: Ann Tate has been appointed the new chair at Ipswich Hospital Trust.
Ms Tate is a distinguished academic and former vice chancellor and chief executive of the University of Northampton.
She was appointed CBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List last year for services to higher education.
She specialised in the education of healthcare professionals, teaching nurses, midwives, and physio, occupational and speech and language therapists.
She said: “I am a passionate supporter of the NHS and am very impressed at the close relationship Ipswich Hospital has with its community and patients. I’m committed to building on those strong foundations and the hospital’s excellent clinical standards as the NHS enters what is no doubt a challenging future.”
Hospital chief executive Andrew Reed said: “She will bring with her a blend of local and professional knowledge, and a breadth of expertise that will offer great benefit to the board, the hospital and therefore our patients.”
Former chairman Mike Brookes retired in December after five-and-a-half years.
