WORKFORCE: Ipswich Hospital Trust’s chairman Mike Brookes will retire on New Year’s Eve.
Mr Brookes has chaired the trust for five and a half years.
He has previously served as chair of Essex Strategic Health Authority, South Essex Health Authority and Southend Hospital Trust.
Mr Brookes said: “It has been a privilege and a pleasure to work with staff and volunteers throughout the hospital, and in the past year with our shadow council of governors. I wish Ipswich Hospital every success for the future.”
Ipswich chief executive Andrew Reed said: “Mike has been an excellent chairman to work with and I will personally miss his wisdom and guidance. He indicated to board members last summer his intention to retire as he has plans to move away from the region. It is typical of Mike that he first wanted to see us through the Care Quality Commission follow-up report and ensure that we had a strong financial recovery plan in place before he left.
“I would like to thank Mike for all that he has done for Ipswich Hospital particularly overseeing us achieve Dr Foster Hospital of the Year status and developing an impressive record around patient safety and quality standards,” he added.
