FINANCE: Princess Alexandra Hospital Trust had a deficit of £1.3m at the end of December, against a planned surplus of £0.3m.

Its pay budget is overspent by £937,000 in the year to date and spending on bank and agency workers was £918,000 in December - a slight improvement on the previous month.

The trust has achieved £7m of its planned £8.1m CIP savings for the year to date.

A report to the board warns that its ability to deliver savings “is challenged by the impact of winter pressures”.
