I enjoyed the Your Humble Servant column on 15 March. In fact, I have it framed on my office wall. But, I really can't let Michael White's Welsh travelogue pass without comment.

Yes Mike, I know you didn't say it..You just heard it from a big boy in the playground. But here's the real story.

The Welsh Ambulance Services Trust does aspire to English performance levels. In fact, we are now exceeding the interim Welsh standards and are on a rapid upward trajectory. I'll not bore you with percentiles, but we're responding within eight minutes to a further 70 chest pain and cardiac arrest patients a week more than in the same period last year.

Ask the big boy in the playground. He's known since March.

When did you visit?
