WORKFORCE: A new medical director has started work at The Rotherham Foundation Trust.

Professor George Thomson started on the 3 January and joins from his previous role as associate medical director and director of medical education at Sherwood Forest Hospitals Foundation Trust.

Professor Thomson is a member of the senior editorial team at the International Journal of Clinical Practice and an Editorial Board Member of Practical Diabetes International.

The Rotherham chief executive Brian James said: “I am delighted that Professor Thomson is joining the trust as chief medical officer. His excellent clinical background and strong leadership skills will play a huge role in ensuring that our clinicians and staff can continue to work towards a healthier future for the people of Rotherham.
