STRUCTURE: A partnership proposal for cancer services has been submitted by Imperial College Healthcare Trust, the Royal Marsden specialist cancer trust and a partnership made up of Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospital.

Papers from the King’s Health Partnership said: “The development of the Integrated Cancer Systems in London is a significant focus for KHP. Following numerous discussions, we have submitted a preliminary application which outlines a partnership spanning South London and North West London, with Imperial and the Royal Marsden Hospital.

“The premise of this arrangement would be an equal partnership, although there is some way to go in establishing final agreement to this effect and to design appropriate governance arrangements.”

Other trusts have told HSJ they consider the reorganisation of cancer services in the capital as a way for the larger teaching hospitals in the centre of London to take business from trusts serving larger populations in the suburbs.

NHS London’s board is due to meet on June 29.
