PERFORMANCE: South Devon Healthcare Foundation Trust has disclosed that nine complaints made against it have been elevated to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman since December 2013.
Two of these complaints were fully upheld, one was partially upheld while three were not upheld, board papers said. Three are still under investigation by the ombudsman.
The ombudsman is a patient’s final recourse if they have made a complaint to a trust relating to their care and the organisation does not settle the complaint to their satisfaction.
A paper presented to the acute trust’s governing body earlier this month said: “Since 1 December 2013 the PHSO has considered nine complaints that the trust has been unable to resolve to the complainants’ satisfaction.
“Of these three remain with the PHSO under current investigation, three were not upheld, one was partially upheld and two were fully upheld.
“The trust was required to provide action plans and financial remedy to the complainant. The PHSO has been investigating more complaints nationally this year as part of a review of their services.”
