PERFORMANCE: The foundation trust is trying a novel way of spreading good infection prevention policy with a video featuring staff, including its chief executive, dancing to music by the Village People.
The 70s band’s song “YMCA” has been transformed into “MRSA” with words reflecting the importance of clean hands to help reduce the rates of hospital associated infections.
By featuring staff from all areas of the trust, including board members, clinical directors, surgeons through to scientists, clerical staff, domestics and porters – the trust hopes to demonstrate that “all staff, no matter who they are or what their role, are required to help prevent infections”.
Trust director of communications Susan Osborne said: “We know that some people might think that a video is a bit frivolous, but actually there is a really serious message behind this video – beating infections is our responsibility and it saves lives.”
