FINANCE: Clinical divisions at University Hospitals Birmingham reported a £1.5m favourable variance in divisional income against expenditure for 2011-12, due to healthcare income £13.3m more than expected.
The trust’s divisional budgets were otherwise £11.8m overspent, April board papers show.
Overall the trust reported a surplus of £2.4m before “exceptional costs” - £1.9m better than planned.
Planned exceptional costs of £52.6m were registered, relating to a move into a new building. These included restructuring costs and a £49.1m impairment loss on the new building.
