PERFORMANCE: University Hospitals Bristol Foundation Trust is reporting a “high risk” of failing to meet the 62 day referral to treatment target for cancer patients this year.

The trust achieved the traget of 90 per cent of patoents referred from screening during quarter one but failed it in quarter two due to a significant increase in breaches for breast cancer patients in the quarter “due to changes to the clinical pathway and a shortfall of capacity”.

The risk register also blames the difficulty of completing the nationally prescribed bowel screening pathway within 62 days and late referrals from other providers as factors affecting performance.
