STRUCTURE: University Hospitals of Leicester is planning a £495,000 refurbishment of its existing aseptic unit at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
The hospital has put a contract out to tender for the project which is split into three phases.
The first will involve refurbishing the existing aseptic units to provide an outer support room, inner support room, two transfer changing rooms and two aseptic suite rooms. A dedicated plant room will also be created within the existing facility to provide ventilation and lighting.
Phase two consists of removing the existing modular building while phase three will see the construction of a new build extension to form a new storage area, a fully enclosed delivery area with a dedicated staff entrance and a roller shutter for medical deliveries.
The existing inflammable store and fluid store are to be encased with a newly formed cavity and brickworks and the area will get a new roof.
The project is due to begin in October and be complete by March.
