FINANCE: Parking charges are set to rise at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire’s from 1 November for the first time in six years.
The trust is to replace the current £2 charge for four hours with hourly tariffs.
Charges will start at £1.50 for those parking between 30mins to one hour, £2 for those staying up to 2 hours, £3.50 for three hours and £5 for up to four hours.
Between four and eight hours the cost will be £6 and the charge will be £8 for over eight hours.
The trust is also introducing parking charges for blue badge holders – 37 trusts nationwide currently charge blue badge holders.
There will be free parking for patients and relatives visiting the cancer centre, high dependency unit, critical care, coronary care and renal dialysis unit.
The trust has introduced 280 spaces for patients and visitors since January and plans to create more in future.
