FINANCE: Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust is to receive extra government funding for new equipment.

Prime minister David Cameron announced on 6 March that around £330m of extra funding would be spent on providing “state of the art” equipment and facilities to improve services for patients.

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust will be the recipient of £1m of this, which it is set to receive before the end of the financial year.

According to the Department of Health, it will be put towards “invest to save schemes – Lithotripter at Princess Royal Hospital, virology equipment and digital dictation”.
