WORKFORCE: A healthcare assistant who worked at Western Sussex Hospitals Trust has been remanded to appear before a crown court.

Sajin Kunjappu Panikkassery, 29, Langton Road, of Chichester, appeared before Worthing Magistrates Court on Monday, 14 January.

He is charged with four counts of sexual assault and one count of rape of a woman patient at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, on 10 January.

Mr Panikkassery, a healthcare assistant at the hospital, was subsequently remanded to appear at Chichester Crown Court on 5 April.

Sussex Police said they were receiving “full co-operation” from Western Sussex Hospitals Trust on the case.
