STRUCTURE: Western Sussex Hospitals Trust has received positive feedback from its strategic health authority on plans to become a foundation trust, and hopes to apply in the summer.
The trust’s board noted at its February meeting that NHS South East Coast had given positive feedback about the fourth submission of the trust’s integrated business plan for the move to become a foundation trust.
In a report to the meeting, chief executive Marianne Griffiths said: “We have just completed stage two of our ‘Historic Due Diligence’ process, and are awaiting the final report.
“The fifth and final submission of our integrated business plan will go to the strategic health authority at the end of March, in preparation for our second board toboard meeting with the SHA on 27 April.”
She added: “We then anticipate our application being forwardedto the Department of Health at the beginning of May, and then on to Monitor for July.”
