STRUCTURE: Building work has begun on Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust’s new breast unit.

In her latest message to staff, chief executive Marianne Griffiths said: “This week should mark a further step forward for us both in terms of the quality of the service we provide, and our capacity, as demolition work begins near to Worthing Hospital, clearing the way for our new breast unit.

“I think it is fair to say that, in terms of giving local women the best possible service, this development has become absolutely essential but it is no less welcome for that.

“When it is complete our patients will benefit from state-of-the-art facilities.”
