STRUCTURE: Four primary care trusts, including Waltham Forest, have formed a cluster this month to cut management costs.
NHS Barking and Dagenham, NHS Havering, NHS Redbridge and NHS Waltham Forest have combined to share management costs as “NHS outer north east London” (ONEL).
Chief executive Heather O’Meara said: “We are here to make sure that improvements to the health of local people are maintained and built upon, while we work more closely with our GP colleagues to take over the reins more fully by 2013.”
The PCTs will “combine to share single executive teams, and other back-office functions such as finance, HR and admin support… to strip out duplication”.
