STRUCTURE: The south-west London primary care trust is proposing a separate commissioning board for Queen Mary’s Hospital.

The board will meet on February 23 to agree the terms for the new board that will commission services.

The proposed memebrship is a mixture of clinical leads from the West Wandsworth and NHS Richmond Practice Based Commissioning groups plus three PCT directors and a representative from the south-west London Acute Commissioning Unit.

Among the objectives it lists are to “Maximise the utilisation of QMH ensuring value for many through the productive and effective use of the QMH site and facilities” and to “Oversee the effective governance of commissioning processes, systems and outcomes for service at QMH.”

The hospital was rebuilt in 2006 and provides services including mental health community services, a minor injuries unit, burns-dressing clinic, limb-fitting services, a sexual health clinic, 69 mental healthcare beds, 50 elderly and intermediate care beds and 20 rehabilitation beds.
