COMMERCE West Hertfordshire Hospitals Trust has brokered a financial and legal agreement with partners to build a multimillion pound “health campus”, the trust has announced.

The trust has finalised an agreement with Watford Borough Council and construction giant Kier Property, which is the main delivery partner for the Watford Health Campus.

Hospital Trust chief executive, Samantha Jones said: “I am pleased that we have reached yet another important milestone in the campus project with the signing of this agreement today.

“One of the first key changes that local residents will see is the development of a new access road, which is very good news as it means there will be much improved access for all of our patients and visitors to the hospital site from the M1 link road, avoiding the town centre.

I look forward to working closely with our health campus partners to deliver improved health facilities, as well as enhancing vital facilities for the wider community”

Watford MP Richard Harrington said: “I am delighted that this contract has been signed today, marking the start of the next stage of the health campus project.

“Plans to build the new health campus have been on the table for years so it is great news that work will begin soon to make the project a reality, with support from this government.

“The Health Campus will be a hugely important development for the town, regenerating one of the most deprived areas, vastly improving Health provisions and making Watford a hub of Healthcare and medical science.”
