WORKFORCE: West Hertfordshire Hospitals Trust chair Thomas Hanahoe is to retire, the trust has announced.
Professor Hanahoe has been chair of the trust, which runs Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans hospitals, since 2005.
Mahdi Hasan, currently non-executive director, will act as interim chair for the trust with immediate effect.
A statement said he had “led the trust through a period of complex changes and major service improvements”.
Trust chief executive Samantha Jones added: “I’d like to thank Thom on behalf of the trust for his dedication and commitment over the past eight years.
“He has worked tirelessly in his role as chairman and has shown a strong personal commitment to championing our hospitals during a period of substantial challenge, both within the Trust and in the wider NHS.
“Myself and my colleagues wish him all the very best for the future.”
