STRUCTURE: NHS Coastal West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group has been conditionally authorised by the NHS Commissioning Board.

The board has authorised the second wave of clinical commissioning groups that will take over commissioning from primary care trusts in April.

It has authorised 67 further CCGs, taking total to 101. The first 34 CCGs were authorised in December.

Coastal West Sussex CCG has been given conditions for its authorisation, meaning it will continue to receive support in some areas. However, unlike most of CCGs given conditions, the board said the unsatisfied authorisation criteria had not been finalised.

“Following a technical issue encountered by the NHS Commissioning Board, the conditions on Coastal West Sussex CCG requires final verification and will be released 48 hours after the rest of the wave,” the board said.

“This has no bearing on the CCG’s ability to commission services for its local community,” it added.
