PERFORMANCE: Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust has shored up its flood defenses at Worthing Hospital.

The hospital has proved repeatedly vulnerable to flooding in recent years.

A member of the public, Heather Duffield, asked the latest board meeting in March to “explain the measures being put into place to manage the risk of flooding”.

The board papers note that it “was explained that barriers and other measures had been put into place, and the trust was continuing to work with the Environment Agency to reduce the risk of flooding”.

The cost of repairs following a serious incident of flooding last June, the fifth in seven years, was around £350,000.
