PERFORMANCE: Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust has been named among the CHKS 40Top Hospitals for the fourth time at an awards ceremony in London.
All NHS acute trusts are entered into the survey, which is run every year by CHKS, the independent healthcare intelligence provider. The 40Top Hospitals award is awarded to the 40 top-performing CHKS client trusts.
The accolade means that Western Sussex has been awarded the honour in each year of its existence.
The rankings are based on 23 key measures of quality, including clinical effectiveness, patient experience and quality of care.
Trust chair Mike Viggers said: “This award is all about our staff, and I was delighted to be able to accept it on their behalf. I hope all of the 6,500 people who work for the trust feel justifiably proud about their contribution towards making this Trust one of the best there is.
“Being named among the CHKS 40Top Hospitals 2012 is a recognition of the excellence of the work that our staff deliver every day, and they reflect how we are doing in the areas which matter most to patients – infection control, safety, clinical quality.”
CHKS managing director Jason Harries added: “We are delighted that Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust is one of our 40Top Hospitals for 2012.”
