About 240 council staff will transfer to an NHS community trust as part of service integration plans for the Wirral.
Val McGee, director of integration and partnerships at Wirral Community Foundation Trust, told HSJ the transfer of adult social services is being planned for April 2017, and would build on existing work to create integrated neighbourhood teams.
Those transferring would include social care assessment staff, reablement workers, and integrated discharge staff. Wirral Council would still commission domiciliary care through independent providers.
Ms McGee added: “We’re absolutely clear on the model and it’s the right thing to do. We’ve still got to do quite a bit of work on the corporate front to see which staff would transfer across.”
The council has commissioned KPMG to carry out a due diligence process.
