WORKFORCE: Mark Goldman has been appointed interim chief executive of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust.
Chief executive John Rostill is to retire at the end of July and Dr Goldman will take up his position in September. Finance director Chris Tidman has been confirmed as deputy chief executive and will act up as CEO between July and September.
Dr Goldman, previously chief executive at the Heart of England Foundation Trust, started his NHS career as a house officer at Kidderminster Hospital in the 1970s before specialising as a vascular surgeon. He left Heart of England in August last year.
Chair Harry Turner said: “I am absolutely delighted that Mark has agreed to join us. I believe that he will provide invaluable support to the trust board and senior team in steering us through a transitional period. In particular, his experiences with Monitor and what it takes to become a successful foundation trust will be beneficial to us as we move forward.”
Dr Goldman said: “I am very much looking forward taking up the interim chief executive role, and hope that in the short time I have with the trust, I am able to put the right foundations in place for the incoming chief executive.”
In a statement, the trust said it had received an excellent response to the advert for the substantive chief executive position and hoped to confirm the permanent successor in early September with a view to a starting date in the New Year.
