PERFORMANCE: Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust is below plan on non-elective, outpatient and accident and emergency activity at the end of the first quarter of the year.

Spells of non-elective activity is 5.6 per cent behind plan, outpatients 1 per cent behind and A&E 1.3 per cent behind. However, elective activity was about 2.5 per cent ahead of plan.

While falls in activity generally show a similar fall in income, this is not the case for non-elective activity where money is only 2.7 per cent under plan.

NHS Worcestershire’s finance report concluded this indicates that a richer case mix is being seen.

The report forecast a break even position for year end.
