STRUCTURE: Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust has said a brand new radiotherapy centre will open at the hospital in 2014.
It will be the trust’s first dedicated radiotherapy centre and provide treatment for the county’s cancer patients who currently travel long journeys out of the county for their care.
Worcestershire patients travel to Coventry, Cheltenham or Wolverhampton for treatment and it is estimated the centre will save around one million miles of travel every year.
The centre is being built on part of the A&E car park site and while it links to the trust PFI site it will not impact on the existing facilities.
