- Former CQC chief executive Sir David Behan will take up new post from December
- He also recently took up a non-executive director role at a care home management company
Sir David Behan has been appointed chair of Health Education England, it has been announced.
Sir David will chair HEE for three years from 1 December 2018, the Department of Health and Social Care has confirmed.
Sir David announced he was stepping down as chief executive of the Care Quality Commission early this year after six years leading the regulator.
The appointment at HEE will be for two to three days per week and remuneration for the role will be at a rate of £63,000 per year, the DHSC said.
It was announced earlier this month that Sir David joined care home management company HC-One as a non-executive director.
HSJ reported last month that HEE would become “accountable” to NHS Improvement, rather than directly to the government.
