An acute, community, and social care trust has appointed a former occupational therapist as its chief executive.

Liz Davenport will lead Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust, following the retirement of former chief Mairead McAlinden.

Ms Davenport already held the leadership role at the £427m-income trust since January this year, when she became interim CEO following Ms McAlinden’s departure.

She has worked in the healthcare sector for 32 years after qualifying as an occupational therapist, and has held positions within mental health, learning disability, community, social care, and acute services.

Trust chair Sir Richard Ibbotson said the organisation had attracted some “excellent candidates”, but said he was “delighted” with Ms Davenport’s appointment.

The trust is rated “good” by the Care Quality Commission.
