The Department of Health has joined NHS Employers as a partner in HSJ and Nursing Times’s Healthcare 100.

The Healthcare 100 draws on surveys carried out by research partner Ipsos MORI, allowing NHS and independent healthcare organisations to understand how engaged their staff are and whether they are among the top 100 healthcare employers.

The awards will include five new categories sponsored by the DH covering the NHS constitution’s values and staff pledges.

DH director general of workforce Clare Chapman said: “Recognising achievements and accelerating the sharing of good practices is what the Healthcare 100 is all about. I am delighted to be on the validation panel again this year and particularly welcome the inclusion of NHS constitution awards to celebrate our ambition for the health service.”

NHS Employers said it was “delighted” to be sponsoring the awards for the second year. Director Sian Thomas said: “We all know that good employment practice will result in improved patient care and these awards are a unique opportunity to recognise and celebrate excellence.”
