King’s Fund chief executive Niall Dickson will leave the think tank in January to take up a role as chief executive of a healthcare regulator.

He will join the General Medical Council as it takes on responsibility for the revalidation of doctors and continuous professional training and education.

The trustees of the King’s Fund will lead the recruitment of his successor.

Before moving to the think tank Mr Dickson was social affairs editor for the BBC. Earlier in his career as a journalist he was editor of HSJ’s sister title Nursing Times.
