A mental health trust has appointed a new chair.

Julie Nerney, whose website describes her as “one of life’s dynamos, a formidable talent” joins Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust on July 1.

Ms Nerney will take over from Andrew Ling, who is stepping down after eight years. She is a former non-executive director of Brighton and Hove University Hospitals Trust and Sussex Ambulance Service Trust, and is currently the chair of Greater Brighton Metropolitan College and the Association of Colleges.

KMPT chief executive Helen Greatorex said: “We are delighted to welcome Julie as our new Chair knowing that she brings with her extensive board experience and a real passion for delivering high quality care.”

Ms Nerney, who has set up companies in the UK and Europe, has worked for government and the not-for-profit sector, including stints leading reforms of the courts and tribunals services and integrating transport services for the London Olympics.
