PERFORMANCE: GP referrals to the Wrightington Wigan and Leigh Foundation Trust were down 10.5 per cent in the first three months of 2011-12 compared with the same period the previous year, the primary care trust NHS Ashton Wigan and Leigh has reported.
The primary care trust’s latest finance report states that for the period non-elective admissions to Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh were also down 2.4 per cent year-on-year, and first outpatient attendances arising from GP referrals down 4.3 per cent year-on-year.
It adds: “This would continue to suggest a positive future impact on the PCTs contract position with Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.
“At Month 04, it is forecast that the contract will underperform by £3.4m.”
