WORKFORCE: Wye Valley Trust has appointed Derek Smith as its interim chief executive to replace outgoing boss Martin Woodford following his retirement.
Mr Smith took over at the trust, which is facing a £15.5m deficit this year, from 13 September.
Trust chairman, Mark Curtis, said: “Wye Valley Trust, like trusts up and down the country, is facing a huge challenge in the months ahead. It is well documented that we are facing severe financial pressures and a rigorous cost savings programme is already in place to combat this. It is therefore crucial that we have strong leadership.
“Derek Smith is an experienced and high calibre executive and is what the trust needs to be able to deliver the healthcare the people of this county need and deserve.”
