WORKFORCE: Yeovil District Hospital Foundation Trust is forming a strategic alliance with a neighbouring trust to help tackle recruitment problems in accident and emergency.
A report to November’s board highlighted problems recruiting consultants and middle grade doctors as a key risk.
To mitigate the problems, the trust is introducing new workung practices on the emergency assessment unit and making changes to the emergency department pathway.
Two new consultants have been appointed and will be in post by January, while there are also plans to formalise a “strategic alliance” with Royal Devon and Exeter Foundation Trust.
