Here, here to anon 2.28, well said my friend! Anon 2.20 also makes a valid point. If the 'consortia' have any sense they will fund the ambulance service to manage the 'emergency planning' element, which will at least ensure it is not forgotten and which is a relatively stable part of the NHS (and still in the NHS). There is a huge danger that this vital element will get lost otherwise....well until a major incident occurs and the NHS is found wanting and some poor soul is hung out to dry by the tabloids!
