I think there is much internal-only advertisement going on for NHSCB posts.

Prof Field does still have a substantive post with NHS West Midlands, so would have been eligible in some of the internal rounds.

I believe Prof Willett would not have been eligible internally, as most of the national clinical directors were not, so that should potentially have been advertised more prominently.

The NHSCB has said it intends to advertise for the remaining major medical post, of the other deputy medical director.
