WORKFORCE: Aintree University Hospitals FT has launched a month-long study to assess nursing staff levels.
The study will look at nursing numbers on each ward and monitor the level of individual patient dependency, says the trust’s latest monthly transparency report.
“This information will offer us assurance that the staffing levels reflect the individual acuity on each ward,” says the report.
The report – part of the NHS North West Transparency Project – shows the hospital cared for 9,411 inpatients in March.
One suffered a fall resulting in moderate harm while 14 patients suffered a grade 2 pressure ulcer.
It added that 83 per cent of nurses who took part said they were “always” satisfied with the quality of care given to patients, 16 per cent said “sometimes” and just 1 per cent said they were not satisfied.
